Dutch Embassy visits Atewa

The Royal Netherlands Embassy, the sponsors of the “Living Water from the Mountain:

Protecting Atewa Water Resources project has paid a visit to A Rocha Ghana implementation

team in Kibi. The visit was made by Fred Smiet, First secretary water and climate. Ghana

Netherlands Wash Programme (GNWP)

In a briefing by the team before visiting the forest, the project team led by the project manager,

Emmanuel Akom gave highlights of the on-going activities of the project. ,Mr Smiet’s itinerary

included a forest hike through the sagyimase trail of the Atewa Forest Reserve to a waterfall in

the forest, spot visits along some of the many streams of Atewa for first hand observation of

illegal small-scale mining activities and a visit to an alternative livelihood site. He was

accompanied by Seth Appiah-Kubi, National Director of A Rocha Ghana.
